So what is a girl to do.... I needed a way to get rid of this gigantic H in the middle of my living room.

(My X last name starts with H and my husbands X first name started with an H!)

Like neither of us wanted to look at our fireplace and go "Wow an H......"

So Here is what I've done. I'm building a mantel to go in between my 'FAUX' pillars.

I did a technique called frottage or smooshing. Basically mix glaze with paint roll it on your wall in 3 x 3 sections.

then put plastic sheeting over it until it is halfway dry. About 40 minutes.
Then the following day I covered with wood stain.

Glaze was about $10 at Home Depot. The candle sconces were $25.00 at Kirklands. I mixed the glaze with some brown paint left over from my bathroom. I bought a chip brush to apply the stain and I used a small trim roller. I spent about $ 35 on this upgrade.

The mantel should cost around $50!
Can't wait to show you the completely finished product.
