In attempts to maximize my DIY potential (and minimize spending on pricey dog sweaters and stitched toys), I'd love to take up this crafty hobby. Sadly, I was once called too much of a perfectionist to complete the task in a timely fashion, but with my increased age comes decreased fussiness about each stitch being exact, so I think I'm ready! First up on the reading list is Pet Projects: The Animal Knits Bible ($18) — packed with ideas that would make even Martha Stewart green with envy.

What to do when you have an old jacket that is still Fab, but has gone drab? No need to be dramatic and rid of it, just take another look and see how it can be revived. This was what I did with a 5-year-old DKNY olive green jacket.

Now that I'm an adult, I often think back to the days when I was a carefree little girl and the only things I had to worry about were which color dress to wear to school and where to get enough blankets to make a fort. When life's stresses get me down now, I take a cue from my girls and play like a kid. It really helps take my mind off frustrating grownup problems and calms me down so I can better deal with those adult issues.

Some parents will try anything to get their lil ones to try different foods. While there are mamas who hide fruits and veggies in otherwise kid-friendly meals, others use cookie cutters to distract their tots into tasting the grub.
For left-brained moms who are inclined to put their creativity on the baking sheet, there is food coloring.

Oh how I love me some mason jars. Among preserving jams, pickling tomatoes, shedding garden light, and showcasing healthy blossoms, the time-tested glass container has one more job to add to its already impressive résumé.
The crafty folks at Pigeon Toe Ceramics have a different take on the old classic.

I recently heard about an awesome DIY spot in San Francisco: Workshop. The genesis of a self-proclaimed DIY-er, Workshop houses a ton of fun classes — complete with a rad DJ and free beer — for the cool and crafty. Last week, it hosted an amazing screen printing party, so you know I was there with my blank canvases.
